Meet Dr. Christina Shih

Dr. Christina Shih is a board-certified pediatric dentist who brings a unique global perspective and passionate commitment to pediatric dental care. As a child, she lived in Taiwan, Thailand, and various parts of the United States until her family eventually settled down in the Bay Area. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving her B.A. degree with honors in Molecular and Cell Biology and B.A. degree in Public Health.

Her journey in dentistry is deeply rooted in her public health background, where she discovered that tooth decay is the most common childhood disease in the United States – and entirely preventable. This led her to attend the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, she found a passion working for children in underserved communities and established, with five other classmates, the Children’s Night Clinic to provide free dental care. She also helped organize the annual “Give Kids a Smile Day” all four years of dental school.

After dental school, Dr. Shih completed her pediatric specialty training at the University of Southern California. While in residency, she worked at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital Orange County, and Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, treating mostly children with special healthcare needs.

Dr. Shih's approach to patient care is built on creating positive, comfortable experiences for children while empowering them to take ownership of their dental health. She believes in explaining dental concepts in age-appropriate ways, making each visit both educational and enjoyable. Her patience and compassion have helped countless young patients overcome their dental anxiety, transforming fearful first visits into confident, routine care.

When she's not creating healthy smiles, Dr. Shih can be found enjoying the outdoors – golfing in the summer months and snowboarding during the winter. She values quality time with family and friends and enjoys visiting new restaurants, wineries, and breweries, with her husband and their dog. She is fluent in Mandarin.
